For years, I dove with the same spotlight or dive flashlight type light that most people use. Great for pointing out things or lighting up fish in the distance, but they’re blindingly bright on a single spot and cameras are all but useless when using them because they wash out what you’re trying to show, and the rest of the picture or video remains dark. Then I went on a night dive and the DM was using one of these, and I knew I had to get one. This thing is bright. Really REALLY bright – but it does so in a 120* beam pattern, so rather than a spot of light, you can flood the entire ocean floor. And it does so evenly – you don’t get hot spots or dead spots – just nice, clean, balanced white light. And it has 3 brightness levels, so you can run it on the lowest setting while swimming around, and then crank it up to medium or high for filming or investigating something. It’s rechargable – it uses a sealed proprietary battery with its own charger, which all comes in a very nice padded traveling case with adapters to fit every wall socket type you can find. I haven’t timed how long it takes to recharge, but if you plug it in after your dive, it’ll be ready by the next night. And the battery lasts – on low power (which is still plenty bright) it will last 3 hours continuous. 2 hours at medium and 1 hour at high power – more than most typical night dives would last. The base comes with what seems to be a standard camera mount type screw base. I ended up buying the Intova flexible handle for this, which allows the light to be mounted on one side, and has a standard threaded tripod mount on the other side, so I had my GoPro mounted to the top and the camera below. The package comes with extra o-rings and silicon grease for maintenance. The light is well built, easy to turn on and off even with gloves, and makes night diving so much better than it was before. Yes, it’s pricey – but if you’re looking for something that will last forever and do EXACTLY what you need it to do – this light takes the cake. You will not be disappointed. I wish I had bought this years ago, thinking of all the night dives, cavern dives, or wreck dives that would have been better with this light by my side.

Got the light early summer, it is a very powerful light, I’ve used it mostly to go inside shipwrecks as a primary light. It has plenty of runtime, is compact and seems durable. I’ve had it to 170 feet so far with no problems. It’s not a focused beam light but it’s floodlight power is really bright. Excellent light especially for the low price!

Have used these lights for several years on video shoots, as deep as 450 ft. Very rugged and easy to use. Ahmed E Can i use any 18650 batteries or do I have to buy the Tovatec Battery Pack?

You would have to buy the Galaxy battery pack. You can’t break the seal on the battery pack to replace the batteries
